Il Progetto
Nata dalla profonda volontà della Pro Loco San Giovanni Montebello APS e finanziata dall’Assessorato Regionale dell'Agricoltura, dello Sviluppo Rurale e della Pesca Mediterranea - Dipartimento Regionale dell’Agricoltura, la Mostra 2026 è un omaggio alla nostra terra e alla nostra identità. L'iniziativa nasce dal desiderio di raccontare l'arte e la poesia che si nascondono dietro antiche fotografie, scovate e recuperate dopo anni di appassionate ricerche sul territorio.
Questi scatti storici sono finestre spalancate sul nostro passato: ritraggono i luoghi di un tempo, le antiche usanze, i volti e i mestieri di una comunità che da sempre vive in armonia con la natura. È il racconto di una zona ricca di doni, resa florida e generosa dalla straordinaria fertilità donata dalla nostra amata "Muntagna", l'Etna.
The Project
Stemming from the deep commitment of the Pro Loco San Giovanni Montebello APS and funded by the Regional Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fisheries, the 2026 Exhibition is a heartfelt tribute to our land and identity. This initiative arises from the desire to share the art and poetry hidden behind vintage photographs, unearthed and carefully recovered after years of passionate local research.
These historical images are windows wide open to our past: they portray bygone places, ancient customs, faces, and the trades of a community that has always lived in harmony with nature. It is the story of a land blessed with natural gifts, made lush and generous by the extraordinary fertility bestowed by our beloved "Muntagna", Mount Etna.
Il Restauro: Tra memoria e innovazione
Come suggerisce il titolo, in questa mostra le immagini tornano a vivere. I segni del tempo, l'usura e l'oblio rischiavano di cancellare questi frammenti di storia. Per questo motivo, ogni singola fotografia è stata sottoposta a un delicato processo di digitalizzazione.
Attraverso l'utilizzo di avanzati software professionali e le nuove frontiere dell'Intelligenza Artificiale, abbiamo restaurato gli scatti originali. Il risultato è sorprendente: le immagini hanno riacquistato luce, nitidezza e profondità, creando un ponte visivo e affettivo tra le generazioni di ieri e quelle di oggi. Movimenti, espressioni e suoni ormai dimenticati.
The Restoration: Between memory and innovation
As the title suggests, in this exhibition, images are brought back to life. The marks of time, wear and tear, and the threat of oblivion risked erasing these fragments of history. For this reason, every single photograph underwent a careful digitization process.
Through the use of advanced professional software and the latest frontiers of Artificial Intelligence, we have restored the original shots. The result is astonishing: the images have regained their light, sharpness, and depth, creating a visual and emotional bridge between past and present generations. Reviving long-forgotten movements, expressions, and sounds.
